ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Lead the modernization, engineering optimization, and continuous improvement of Amgen's Disaster Recovery (DR) program and technology recovery architectures.
Partner with Business Continuity (BC) stakeholders to align technical recovery capabilities with Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and enterprise operational resilience requirements.
Architect and implement enterprise-wide dependency mapping across business applications, infrastructure, third-party vendors, personnel, and Key Computerized Systems (KCSs).
Lead the implementation of Agentic AI and workflow automation to generate, maintain, and synchronize real-time DR documentation and recovery plans.
Establish robust governance, telemetry, quality assurance, and fallback/override mechanisms for AI-enabled operational recovery workflows.
Plan, lead, and execute cross-functional DR simulation exercises, validating Achieved Recovery Time (ART), Achieved Recovery Point (ARP), and technical failover systems.
Document exercise outcomes, lead post-incident reviews, develop actionable remediation plans, and drive continuous resilience improvements.
Provide technical leadership, tooling guidance, and resilience engineering consultation to cross-functional global IT and business teams.
Technical & Engineering Standards
Deep technical expertise in Disaster Recovery (DR) architecture, IT service continuity, failover mechanisms, and enterprise operational resilience.
Proven ability to design and implement Agentic AI workflows, orchestration pipelines, and automated recovery systems.
Strong command of recovery metrics (RTO, RPO, ART, ARP), dependency modeling, and IT risk mitigation frameworks.
In-depth understanding of high-availability cloud and hybrid infrastructure, database replication, and system telemetry.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the primary Disaster Recovery engineering SME advising senior leadership across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business operations.
Mentor junior resilience analysts and engineers, promoting automation-first engineering practices and operational discipline.
Present complex technical recovery strategies and risk analyses effectively to global technical and executive stakeholders.
