ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Define and execute the 3–5 year strategic platform vision and architecture roadmap for global Drug Safety, Pharmacovigilance (PV), and Patient Safety systems.
Lead and mentor global, product-aligned engineering pods to deliver compliant, scalable, resilient, and high-performing safety monitoring capabilities.
Direct end-to-end technical delivery across safety platforms, aligning priorities with business leads, product managers, and enterprise architects to ensure measurable clinical and regulatory value.
Own platform service health, operational stability, site reliability engineering (SRE), and incident/problem management across the global PV technology estate.
Spearhead innovation initiatives by integrating AI/ML models, agentic automation tools (e.g., Claude, Kiro), and predictive analytics to modernize signal detection and adverse event processing workflows.
Manage commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) safety software vendors, system integrators, and departmental budgets to maximize technology investment returns.
Uphold strict adherence to GxP documentation, Computer System Validation (CSV), data standards, and global Health Authority regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, PMDA).
Technical & Platform Standards
Deep expertise in enterprise platform engineering, microservices architectures, event-driven designs, and cloud-native hosting (AWS/Azure).
Proven command over Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), product-aligned delivery models, DevOps automation, CI/CD pipelines, and observability.
Strong familiarity with pharmacovigilance domains: safety databases (Argus, ArisG), individual case safety report (ICSR) ingestion, signal detection, and aggregate safety reporting.
Experience implementing AI/ML-driven automation tools and test engineering frameworks in highly regulated life sciences environments.
Leadership & Executive Governance
Act as the senior technology executive (Career Level F) partnering with global Chief Medical Officers, Patient Safety heads, and Quality leadership.
Build, mentor, and govern high-performing engineering and DevOps teams, driving a culture of continuous learning, psychological safety, and technical excellence.
Establish and monitor platform maturity metrics, delivery velocity KPIs, and operational health benchmarks.
