ROLE OVERVIEW

AstraZeneca is hiring an Analyst Graphic Designer I – Medical Publications in Bengaluru to create accurate, publication-ready visuals and layouts for scientific communications. The role is hybrid and calls for at least three years of regulated medical, healthcare or scientific publishing design experience.

ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • •Own the design and formatting workflow for congress posters, abstract supplements, encore abstracts, submission materials, manuscript figures and tables, graphical abstracts, supplementary materials, scientific presentations and digital publication assets.
  • •Create layouts that communicate objectives, methods, results and conclusions through visual hierarchy, readable typography and a clear scientific storyline suitable for peer review.
  • •Redraw and vectorise graphs, charts, diagrams, pathways and low-resolution source artwork into accurate, editable, high-resolution graphics while preserving data, context and scientific meaning.
  • •Prepare and adapt files to meet journal, publisher and conference specifications, including dimensions, final-size readability, resolution, colour mode, typography, file format, naming, numbering, captions and templates.
  • •Carry out detailed quality checks on source data, manuscript text, labels, legends, tables, units, citations, visual consistency and final artwork, and escalate scientific discrepancies promptly.
  • •Apply accessible design practices such as sufficient contrast, colour-blind-safe palettes, legible typography, clear labels and non-colour cues so visuals remain effective at final publication size.
  • •Collaborate with publication leads, medical writers, authors and delivery teams from briefing to finalisation, clarify requirements, present design rationale, incorporate consolidated feedback and maintain version control.
  • •Guide designers and delivery partners with practical feedback, manage multiple projects across therapeutic areas and brands, communicate risks early, and develop SOPs, frameworks, modular elements and checklists that support consistent delivery while keeping assets aligned with corporate visual identity, medical and publication standards, intellectual property, licensing and confidentiality rules.
