Area Medical Advisor - Hepatology
ROLE OVERVIEW
GSK’s Area Medical Advisor, Specialty, Hepatology is a field-facing Medical Affairs role based in Bengaluru, designed to be the scientific bridge between GSK’s hepatology portfolio and the external clinical community. You will translate complex clinical data into credible, on-label scientific exchange with Key External Experts, gastroenterologists, hepatologists and institutional stakeholders. As GSK advances specialty medicines and vaccines across respiratory, immunology, oncology, HIV and infectious diseases, hepatology remains a critical therapy area where medical evidence, real-world insights and compliant scientific engagement shape brand strategy and patient outcomes. This position offers a rare blend of clinical science, strategic influence and cross-functional leadership, ideal for a physician seeking to deepen therapeutic expertise, build KOL networks and influence the standard of care in liver disease across India.
ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- •Develop and sustain credible peer-to-peer relationships with hepatologists, gastroenterologists and other HCPs/KEEs through scientific exchange and advisory interactions.
- •Plan, facilitate and deliver CMEs, symposia, workshops, speaker tours and scientific meetings with consistent on-label messages.
- •Serve as internal Hepatology expert, maintaining current knowledge of GSK molecules, prescribing information and competitor landscape.
- •Provide medical and scientific input into brand strategy, medical plans and scientific engagement activities in collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Medical.
- •Support feasibility assessments, concept notes, budgets and data collection tools for field studies and investigator-initiated research.
- •Partner with Named Safety Contact to strengthen pharmacovigilance awareness and ensure compliance with ICH-GCP and SOPs.
- •Deliver scientific presentations and digital engagement content to external stakeholders, ensuring promotional and medical code compliance.
- •Capture actionable clinical insights and communicate them cross-functionally to inform medical and commercial decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBBS with postgraduate qualification; MD preferred in Pharmacology, General Medicine, Paediatrics or Community Medicine.
- 1-2 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably in Medical Affairs or Hepatology/Gastroenterology therapy area.
- Proven ability to engage HCPs in scientific discussions and present at medical meetings.
- Sound understanding of ICH-GCP, local regulatory requirements and promotional compliance.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English and local language.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel for field-based scientific engagements and internal meetings.
