ROLE OVERVIEW

GSK is seeking an Area Medical Advisor for Hepatology, a pivotal Medical Affairs role that bridges clinical science and commercial strategy across the Kolkata region. You will serve as the scientific anchor for hepatology brands, engaging Key External Experts and Key Opinion Leaders to ensure accurate, on-label medical communication. This position shapes medical education, scientific engagement, and brand strategy while supporting pharmacovigilance and field research feasibility. ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • •Develop and sustain credible scientific relationships with hepatology Key External Experts, Key Opinion Leaders, and healthcare practitioners across the region.
  • •Plan, facilitate, and deliver continuing medical education, symposia, workshops, speaker tours, and scientific meetings with consistent on-label messages.
  • •Provide medical and scientific input into brand strategy, medical plans, and scientific engagement activities in alignment with promotional codes.
  • •Serve as a hepatology expert, maintaining current knowledge of GSK molecules, prescribing information, and disease management to support accurate communications.
  • •Support feasibility assessments for potential research sites, develop concept notes, proposals, budgets, and data collection or monitoring tools for field studies.
  • •Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Medical teams to ensure cross-functional alignment and compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.
  • •Support the Named Safety Contact in strengthening hepatology pharmacovigilance and complete required self-learning and safety reporting activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBBS degree with a postgraduate qualification; MD in Pharmacology, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Community Medicine, or related specialty preferred.
  • 1–2 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably in Gastroenterology or Hepatology therapy area.
  • Strong understanding of disease management and ability to engage in scientific discussions with healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and local language.
  • Sound knowledge of ICH-GCP principles, internal SOPs, and pharmaceutical promotional compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand scientific methods, experimental design, and interpret clinical data.
  • Experience presenting scientific topics in varied settings; digital scientific engagement is advantageous.
