Medical Affairs is the scientific bridge between a pharmaceutical company and the medical community. Unlike sales, its role is non-promotional: providing accurate, balanced scientific information about therapies, supporting evidence generation and gathering insights from clinicians.

Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) build peer-level relationships with key opinion leaders in a therapy area. Medical Advisors shape medical strategy and review materials, Medical Information teams answer clinical questions from doctors and patients, and medical reviewers check promotional and scientific content for accuracy and compliance.

These roles usually prefer an MBBS, MD, PharmD, PhD or a master's in pharmacy or life sciences, often with therapy-area experience in fields such as oncology, cardiology or immunology. Strong scientific communication and the ability to interpret clinical evidence are central to the job.
