ROLE OVERVIEW

Provide scientific and technical leadership in synthetic molecule process chemistry, overseeing key process development activities at an Indian CDMO and serving as the technical bridge between Lilly scientists and external development partners.

ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • •Provide technical oversight of process development activities performed at an Indian CDMO
  • •Act as the technical bridge between Lilly scientists and the CDMO
  • •Review and influence CDMO development strategies and ensure alignment with Lilly requirements
  • •Develop synthetic routes using modern technologies including continuous processing and automated reaction screening
  • •Design and analyze experiments to improve process understanding and optimize reaction conditions
  • •Collaborate with analytical development scientists and manufacturing engineers to translate processes from bench to pilot-plant scale
  • •Apply digital tools and advanced modelling to process development and technology transfer
  • •Coach and mentor scientists and promote scientific excellence, collaboration, safety, and compliance
Reporting Hierarchy: Works within Lilly Product Research & Development / Synthetic Molecule Design and Development and collaborates with Lilly scientists, CDMO teams, analytical development scientists, manufacturing engineers, computational chemistry teams, and other cross-functional partners

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline with focus on process chemistry
  • Ph.D./Postdoctoral training in Chemistry
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Deep technical expertise in modern synthetic chemistry
  • Demonstrated experience in chemical design and mechanism-based problem solving for complex molecule synthesis or methodology development
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines, locations, and the pharmaceutical value chain
