ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Role & Organizational Overview

The Area Medical Advisor, Specialty, Hepatology at GSK (based in Mumbai or Delhi) delivers scientific and technical expertise across the Hepatology therapeutic area. Reporting to the Therapy Area Head of Medical Affairs (Specialty & General Medicine), this role drives medical strategy, establishes key external expert networks, and ensures compliant scientific engagements across the region.

Core Responsibilities

KOL & HCP Engagement: Build and sustain credible networks with Key External Experts (KEEs), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs) through peer-to-peer scientific discussions.

Scientific Education & Events: Plan, facilitate, and execute CMEs, symposia, workshops, scientific presentations, and speaker tours delivering on-label scientific information.

Medical Strategy & Business Input: Provide scientific input into the development and execution of brand strategies for Hepatology portfolio products, supporting Scientific Engagement (SE) plans in alignment with GSK promotional codes.

Clinical Research & Feasibility: Support site feasibility assessments for research studies, develop concept notes, trial proposals, budgets, and field data collection tools.

Pharmacovigilance & Safety: Partner with Named Safety Contacts to strengthen Hepatology drug safety monitoring, ensure rapid safety reporting, and strictly adhere to ICH-GCP guidelines and GSK internal SOPs.

Technical & Domain Standards

Mastery of Hepatology therapeutic science, disease management strategies, and GSK product prescribing information.

Compliance with global regulatory guidelines, ICH-GCP standards, and local pharmaceutical promotional practices.

Maintenance of on-label scientific communication standards across all internal and external platforms.

Leadership & Business Impact

Serves as the primary medical authority for GSK Hepatology brands in the region, bridging commercial strategy and scientific evidence to drive clinical adoption and patient outcomes.
