ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable end-to-end data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Databricks, PySpark, and SparkSQL to process large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
Implement automated workflows, monitoring, and orchestration using Databricks Jobs, notebooks, and workflow schedulers.
Apply advanced big data performance optimization techniques, including Spark job tuning, caching, data partitioning, indexing, and cluster management.
Build seamless integrations connecting multiple data sources, including relational databases, REST APIs, and cloud storage systems (AWS S3).
Develop, maintain, and govern dimensional data models, data dictionaries, schema evolution rules, and technical architecture documentation.
Implement data security, privacy compliance, and data governance frameworks across enterprise analytics systems.
Collaborate closely with Data Architects, Data Scientists, Product Owners, and global cross-functional engineering teams across international time zones.
Support later work shifts (second or third shift) as needed to align with global business requirements.
Technical & Engineering Standards
Deep hands-on expertise in big data technologies: Databricks, Apache Spark (PySpark, SparkSQL), and workflow orchestration tools.
Advanced proficiency in SQL development, query optimization, and data modeling for high-performance analytics.
Strong cloud platform engineering foundation, specifically with AWS services and enterprise cloud data lakes.
Working knowledge of data governance, security standards, and global compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Take technical ownership of data engineering projects from scoping and sprint planning to production release and monitoring.
Partner with business SMEs and data scientists to translate complex analytical requirements into resilient data architectures.
Champion clean coding practices, reusable software component design, and automated testing across engineering teams.
