ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end statistical design, strategy, and quantitative decision-making across clinical product development plans, preclinical studies, regulatory pathways, HTA, and commercial activities.
Own statistical content for study protocols, statistical analysis plans (SAPs), clinical trial interpretations, and regulatory submission packages to ensure rigorous, timely delivery.
Quantify benefit-risk, value, and uncertainty of emerging drug profiles, translating complex quantitative evidence into strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
Provide direction to internal statisticians and CRO partners, ensuring quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to trial timelines.
Represent AstraZeneca at decision forums, internal review boards (ESPC/LSPC), advisory panels, regulatory health authority interactions, and payer meetings.
Investigate and implement advanced statistical methodologies, such as adaptive trial designs and Bayesian methods, to strengthen decision-making across therapy areas.
Technical & Domain Standards
Maintain expertise in advanced statistical methodologies, complex statistical computation, and clinical trial protocol development.
Oversee data-driven analysis and regulatory submission standards across global regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, PMDA).
Leverage modern statistical software (R, SAS) and reproducible analysis frameworks for clinical trial data processing and validation.
Leadership & Impact
Serve as a senior statistical technical expert, setting enterprise-wide standards for trial design rigor and quantitative analysis.
Coach, mentor, and foster technical education for the global statistics community.
Influence global governance bodies and therapy area leadership teams on asset progression and investment decisions.
