ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Responsibilities

Drive Therapeutic Area performance for CDC India through strategic clinical-trial insights, portfolio planning, execution leadership, and operational excellence.
Deliver country-level Therapeutic Area strategic insights to regional leadership by analysing market dynamics, trial-design challenges, recruitment risks, and performance issues and translating findings into actionable solutions.
Lead internal planning and smooth execution of the clinical-trial portfolio, including site activation, patient-journey mapping, enrolment delivery, and proactive study-mitigation planning.
Provide strategic leadership for the Therapeutic Area unit, including performance management, coaching of direct reports, and implementation of innovative people-development approaches.
Adapt and execute the Global Recruitment Planning and Execution Strategy within CDC India.
Oversee recruitment performance against targets and provide bottom-up insights into capacity, constraints, and operational challenges.
Coordinate strategically across CDC with Clinical Medical Managers (CMMs), Medical, Commercial, and Market Access teams to align portfolio planning, site selection, and trial execution.
Ensure high-quality clinical-trial execution in compliance with ICH-GCP, applicable regulatory requirements, and internal SOPs.
Foster a process-oriented and quality-focused mindset across the clinical operations team.

Clinical Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

Provide strategic oversight across therapeutic-area clinical-trial portfolios.
Support country-to-region communication by translating local operational and scientific information into strategic insights.
Lead portfolio planning, resource considerations, site-selection strategy, recruitment planning, and execution readiness.
Identify recruitment and study-performance risks and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
Apply scientific and operational data to support strategic decision-making.

People Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Build and manage high-performing, agile teams across regions.
Coach direct reports and develop talent through mentoring and structured people-development approaches.
Influence senior stakeholders within matrix organisations and manage competing priorities without relying solely on direct authority.
Facilitate alignment and consensus across regional, clinical, commercial, medical, and market-access stakeholders.
Engage external stakeholders including investigators, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and advocacy groups.

Compliance & Operational Excellence

Ensure clinical-trial activities meet ICH-GCP, local regulatory requirements, and internal SOPs.
Promote operational excellence, quality, speed, and patient-centric execution.
Use performance metrics, advanced analytics, and digital technologies to identify improvement opportunities and strengthen trial management.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related field required; Master's degree or PhD preferred.
15+ years of relevant Clinical Operations experience, potentially including CRA, Project Manager, People Manager, or Operations Manager roles.
Demonstrated leadership of complex, multi-country clinical-trial operations with strategic oversight.
Strong portfolio-planning, resource-allocation, and recruitment-strategy expertise.
Deep understanding of therapeutic-area landscapes, clinical-development processes, regulatory frameworks, ICH-GCP, and local regulations.
Demonstrated ability to interpret scientific and operational data for strategic decisions.
Proven experience building and managing high-performing agile teams across regions.
Strong talent development, mentoring, and people-leadership capabilities.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.
Expertise in advanced analytics and digital technologies for clinical-trial performance assessment and decision-making.
