ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Role Overview
Lead Clinical Development Centre (CDC) India therapeutic-area performance for cardiovascular disease clinical trials.
Drive clinical-trial strategy, portfolio planning, execution excellence and operational performance across India.
Provide strategic trial insights, oversee study readiness and site selection, and ensure high-quality execution aligned with global objectives.
Core Responsibilities
Deliver country therapeutic-area strategic insights to regional leadership and partner with CMMs and regional leads to analyse market dynamics, trial-design challenges, recruitment risks and performance issues.
Develop actionable solutions based on operational and scientific insights.
Lead internal planning and execution of the clinical-trial portfolio, including site activation, patient-journey mapping, enrolment delivery and proactive study-mitigation planning.
Provide strategic leadership for the therapeutic-area unit and drive performance management.
Coach direct reports and implement innovative approaches to people development.
Adapt and execute the Global Recruitment Planning and Execution Strategy within CDC India.
Monitor recruitment performance against targets and provide bottom-up insights into capacity constraints and operational challenges.
Lead strategic coordination across CDC in collaboration with CMMs, Medical, Commercial and Market Access teams.
Align portfolio planning, site selection and trial execution across cross-functional stakeholders.
Ensure clinical-trial activities are executed in accordance with ICH-GCP, applicable regulatory requirements and internal SOPs.
Promote a process-oriented quality mindset across the clinical operations team.
Clinical Operations & Strategic Expertise
Lead complex, multi-country clinical-trial operations with strategic oversight.
Apply expertise in portfolio planning, resource allocation and recruitment-strategy design.
Interpret therapeutic-area landscapes, scientific information, clinical-development processes and operational data to inform strategic decisions.
Understand applicable regulatory frameworks, including ICH-GCP and local regulations.
Use advanced analytics and digital technologies to assess performance metrics, identify improvement opportunities and support data-driven trial management.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Build and manage high-performing, agile teams across regions.
Provide talent development, mentoring, coaching and people leadership.
Make decisions under uncertainty and manage competing priorities within complex matrix organisations.
Influence senior stakeholders and facilitate consensus without direct authority.
Engage investigators, key opinion leaders, advocacy groups and internal cross-functional teams.
Synthesise complex scientific, operational and performance data into actionable insights for leadership.
Department & Business Impact
CDC India translates global clinical strategies into local execution across multiple therapeutic areas.
Work closely with investigators, KOLs and cross-functional partners to deliver trials with speed, quality and patient-centricity.
Contribute to the development of transformative therapies through clinical-testing excellence, collaboration, data and digital capabilities.
Leadership directly influences how innovative treatments progress from pipeline to patients across the region.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related discipline; Master's degree or PhD preferred.
15+ years of relevant Clinical Operations experience, potentially including CRA, Project Manager, People Manager or Operations Manager roles.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex multi-country clinical-trial operations and strategic portfolio activities.
