ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Design or modify database designs to solve database processing problems while considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and required output formats.
Perform database analysis and database design activities for databases operating in production environments.
Ensure databases meet required operational standards and performance levels, including reliability, response time, and query execution time.
Participate in database consultations and database design reviews.
Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies.
Perform database denormalization and develop data archival schemes.
Conduct database sizing activities and create data definition language and database objects.
Maintain referential integrity and enforce database security requirements.
Support application optimization through database-level activities.
Administer, monitor, tune, and support databases in production environments.
Technical & Functional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum two years of information technology experience.
Minimum one year of experience in database administration.
Ability to proactively identify complex database and IT problems.
Ability to develop appropriate technical solutions and recommendations.
Understanding of database performance, reliability, response time, query execution, backup and recovery, security, and production database support.
