ROLE OVERVIEW

This Access Field Manager role at Novartis is a strategic market-access position focused on Delhi and surrounding states/UTs. It sits at the intersection of public health, government affairs, payer engagement and commercial strategy, ensuring that innovative Novartis therapies are included in state formularies and reach reimbursed beneficiaries through sustainable health-system solutions. The position is critical as India's healthcare access landscape becomes more decentralised, with state governments, public health bodies and payers shaping adoption pathways. By co-creating MoUs, disease awareness programmes, protocol shaping and alternative funding models, the Access Field Manager directly influences patient access and Novartis's long-term portfolio performance. This is a compelling opportunity for experienced healthcare strategy professionals who want to shape policy, build high-level partnerships and translate access barriers into measurable patient impact across Delhi's evolving health ecosystem.

ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • •Develop and execute state-level access strategies for Delhi and targeted UTs, mapping patient journeys to identify reimbursement, formulary and care-pathway barriers.
  • •Engage government institutions, health administrations, payers and public health bodies to co-create access initiatives and secure sustainable formulary inclusion.
  • •Design and negotiate MoUs, Management Entry Agreements, public-private partnerships and alternative funding models that broaden reimbursed access.
  • •Shape disease and therapy-area prioritisation through protocol development, pathway creation and evidence-based advocacy with health-system stakeholders.
  • •Build relationships with policymakers, KOLs, patient organisations and healthcare administrators to support access and public policy goals.
  • •Partner with government affairs, marketing and communications teams to align advocacy messaging and product value propositions.
  • •Track programme governance, compliance, outcomes and impact metrics, adjusting tactical access plans as required.
  • •Monitor health policy, HTA and reimbursement trends, providing strategic intelligence to internal cross-functional teams.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm or B.Sc. in a relevant science discipline.
  • Master's degree in business administration, public policy, communications or equivalent from a reputed institute.
  • Minimum 8 years of overall experience, including at least 5 years in public health, development, market access, healthcare strategy or related roles.
  • Proven experience engaging state governments, public health institutions, payers, development-sector partners or healthcare administrators.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement access, disease awareness, health system strengthening or public-private partnership initiatives.

EXPECTED CAREER ROADMAP

From Access Field Manager, high performers can advance to State Access Lead, Head of Market Access, or Public Affairs & Policy Director within Novartis or broader pharma. The role builds rare expertise in government engagement, reimbursement, health economics and health-system strengthening, opening exits to market-access consultancies, health-tech, development-sector organisations, payer strategy, patient-access foundations and healthcare policy think tanks. In 2-3 years, success in formulary inclusions and MoU execution can lead to national access roles; in 4-5 years, candidates may own multi-state or therapy-area access portfolios. The Delhi location provides strong visibility with central and state policymakers, further accelerating leadership opportunities in India's evolving access landscape.

APPLICATION ADVISORY

Tailor your CV to highlight quantified access wins: formularies influenced, MoUs signed, PPPs launched, reimbursement pathways created and patient reach achieved. Prepare for interview case discussions on Delhi's state health schemes, HTA, payer objections and ethical compliance. Emphasise cross-functional work with government affairs, marketing and medical teams. Be ready to explain how you map patient journeys and convert barriers into tactical access plans. Demonstrate policy fluency, stakeholder maps and measurable outcomes; avoid generic commercial claims. Know Novartis's therapy areas and recent access partnerships.
