ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Manage and support a team of Data Management professionals to efficiently produce clinical databases that meet customer requirements.
Provide expert review and guidance for Data Management deliverables including CRF/e-CRF development, database design and setup, validation definition and programming, Data Management Plans, and database deliverables for internal and external customers.
Provide technical advice and solutions to internal and external customers to resolve problems and improve operational efficiency.
Ensure staff are appropriately trained and compliant with current operating procedures, work instructions, and project scope of work.
Identify professional development and training needs and mentor staff to strengthen Data Management process, system, and drug-development expertise.
Provide operational input into proposals and scopes of work and participate in proposal defenses.
Leadership & People Management
Conduct at least bi-monthly meetings with direct reports covering project status, timelines, delivery updates, financial aspects, risks, mitigation actions, initiatives, utilization, training, SOP and corporate-training obligations, personnel matters, and career or training objectives.
Develop and implement plans to measure and improve employee engagement while maintaining global consistency.
Collaborate with project leads on current and projected work schedules, staffing requirements, technology requirements, and peak workload planning.
Develop and manage action plans and hold team members accountable for agreed deliverables.
Communicate leadership messages effectively to direct reports and teams and escalate issues and opportunities to leadership.
Provide substitute coverage or ensure appropriate coverage for direct reports during absences or turnover.
Clinical Data Management & Technical Expertise
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Data Management processes and systems.
Maintain a solid understanding of the clinical drug-development process and production of Data Management deliverables.
Provide technical oversight for CRF/e-CRF, database design and setup, validation definition and programming, Data Management Plans, and database deliverables.
Apply sound judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, metrics, and time-management skills across multiple projects and competing priorities.
Business, Project & Financial Impact
Attend and participate in Bid Defenses and Kick-off Meetings where applicable.
Support Requests for Information, Requests for Pricing, Requests for Proposals, budgets, and related commercial activities as requested.
Demonstrate understanding of basic project finance concepts including EAC, forecasting, burn-rate monitoring, and recognizing and pursuing out-of-scope work where appropriate.
Drive short- and long-term business and financial results.
Proactively evaluate project risks and potential issues, identify solutions, and communicate appropriately with direct reports, colleagues, customers, and leadership.
Quality, Compliance & Audit Responsibilities
Participate in and support internal and external audits and inspections as required.
Ensure assigned staff are appropriately trained, prepared, and available to support audits and inspections.
Maintain compliance with applicable SOPs, work instructions, project scope, and corporate training requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum 14+ years of relevant professional work experience.
Minimum 3+ years of people-management or line-management experience.
Strong staff-management, leadership, motivational, influencing, mentoring, and coaching capabilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Ability to follow instructions and guidelines while using initiative and working independently.
Ability to operate effectively in a matrix service-delivery environment with shared accountabilities.
Ability to proactively communicate, facilitate decisions, manage risks, and deliver results across competing priorities.
