ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Overview

Pfizer is seeking an Associate Manager - Microbiology to join its Quality Control and Quality Assurance division in Vizag (Visakhapatnam), Andhra Pradesh. In this on-premise quality leadership role, you will uphold cGMP compliance, oversee microbiological testing, manage analytical method transfers and validations, and drive laboratory investigations to ensure product safety and efficacy.

Core Responsibilities

Method Validation & Qualification: Create, review, and approve microbiological test method transfer and validation protocols, analytical reports, and equipment qualification records.
Laboratory Operations & Testing: Perform and oversee specialized testing including Sterility Testing, Microbial Limit Testing (MLT), Bacterial Endotoxin Testing (BET), NPI developmental studies, assays, heat shock tests, media preparation, and bio-ball culture handling.
Investigations & Compliance: Lead microbiology-related lab investigations, perform root cause analysis, determine corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and ensure strict compliance with cGMP across QC and stability laboratories.
LIMS & Data Integrity: Manage Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) builds, review analytical testing data, and ensure absolute data integrity.
Leadership & Safety: Serve on cross-functional teams, conduct lab safety inspections, mentor junior colleagues, and deliver technical training.

Technical & Digital Standards

Quality Systems: Deep operational understanding of sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging quality assurance, and pharmacopoeial guidelines.
AI & Digital Enablement: Leverage generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) responsibly to enhance productivity, optimize workflows, and support technical problem-solving.
