Role Overview
Senior Medical Writer I at Cadent, a Syneos Health company, is responsible for developing high-quality scientific and medical communication materials for biopharmaceutical clients. The role focuses on interpreting complex scientific and medical information, translating evidence into compelling narratives, developing medical communication assets, coordinating with clients and cross-functional teams, and ensuring scientific accuracy, regulatory readiness and on-time project delivery.
Core Responsibilities
Support innovative and creative scientific narrative development for client medical communication requirements.
Develop slides, manuscripts, abstracts, posters and other digital and print medical communication materials.
Interpret complex scientific and medical data for different audiences, including clinical-trial protocols, data presentations, regulatory documentation and statistical-analysis methods.
Synthesize, prioritize and effectively visualize scientific data when developing medical communication assets.
Apply critical analysis and maintain strong attention to detail throughout content development.
Work directly with external clients, authors, internal team members and other stakeholders to develop communication points.
Collaborate with creative studio, production, editorial and account-management teams to deliver projects.
Accurately incorporate author and stakeholder feedback into deliverables.
Maintain scientific accuracy and rigor, including preparation of complete reference packs and annotations.
Prepare materials for legal and regulatory review when required.
Perform fact-checking and quality-control processes, including editing and adding annotations where necessary.
Understand and champion scientific and communication strategies for one or more clients.
Serve as a subject-matter expert in one to two disease states.
Extract and analyze data for project requirements, including landscape analyses, Key Opinion Leader mapping, gap analyses and literature reviews.
Participate actively in internal and external meetings and represent project work to clients, authors and other stakeholders.
Ensure deliverables comply with internal or client-directed specifications and templates.
Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment.
Proactively manage timelines and ensure projects are completed on schedule.
Identify issues, escalate them appropriately and propose practical solutions.
Deliver high-volume, fast-turnaround projects such as KOL biographies and KOL identification projects.
Scientific & Technical Standards
Apply knowledge of good publication-practice guidelines to medical communications work.
Interpret clinical and scientific evidence accurately and communicate it appropriately for different audiences and formats.
Maintain complete references, annotations and fact-checking documentation.
Support legal and regulatory review requirements where applicable.
Use medical literature databases and scientific visualization and referencing tools to support evidence-based content.
Qualifications & Experience
Advanced health-science qualification such as PhD, MD, PharmD, M.Pharm, MBBS, M.Sc or another advanced professional degree in health sciences.
2-3 years of professional medical communications experience.
Knowledge of good publication-practice guidelines.
ISMPP CMPP certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with PubMed and/or EMBASE and referencing and scientific-visualization software.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to communicate complex medical and technical information to varied audiences and across multiple formats.
Collaboration & Project Management

Prioritize multiple concurrent assignments and determine resources required to accomplish project objectives.
Provide effective direction to others when needed.
Work efficiently under tight deadlines and manage high-volume deliverables.
