ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing events for assigned External Manufacturing (EXM) Core/Agile categories, suppliers, and initiatives in alignment with established category strategies and sourcing priorities.
Plan and execute RFx events, negotiations, and supplier-selection activities with appropriate guidance from the Senior Director – Strategic Sourcing Core / Agile Lead.
Translate category strategies and business requirements into clear sourcing execution plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
Ensure sourcing activities appropriately address cost, capacity, quality, service, and supply-risk considerations.
Contracting & Commercial Support
Lead supplier commercial negotiations covering pricing, capacity, and key commercial terms.
Partner with Legal and cross-functional stakeholders on contract development, review, and execution using established templates.
Support implementation of contracts by ensuring negotiated outcomes and sourcing intent are clearly understood and executed.
Identify, assess, and escalate commercial or contractual risks when appropriate.
Value Delivery & Financial Impact
Deliver measurable sourcing value through cost optimization, supplier negotiations, and contract execution aligned with category objectives.
Support annual savings and broader sourcing-value targets.
Clearly communicate sourcing approaches, results, and business outcomes to stakeholders.
Track sourcing activities, outcomes, benefits, and savings using standard tools and templates.
Support Finance teams with value-validation and reporting processes.
Supplier Engagement & Market Intelligence
Engage suppliers through structured sourcing processes, RFx activities, and commercial discussions.
Maintain awareness of supplier capabilities, capacity constraints, supplier economics, market dynamics, and should-cost considerations.
Provide supplier and market insights to Category Managers and leadership to support sourcing planning and execution.
Support resolution of supplier issues that fall within the contractual and sourcing scope.
Risk, Compliance & Quality Alignment
Ensure sourcing activities comply with procurement policies, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Identify and escalate risks such as capacity constraints, single-source exposure, and commercial risks.
Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, External Manufacturing, and other stakeholders to ensure sourcing decisions are feasible and compliant.
Effectively use procurement systems and tools for sourcing execution, documentation, tracking, and reporting.
Stakeholder Partnership
Partner with Category Managers, External Manufacturing, Quality, and other business stakeholders to execute sourcing initiatives.
Communicate sourcing plans, progress, decisions, and outcomes clearly and consistently.
Build stakeholder credibility through reliable execution, strong collaboration, and delivery against agreed objectives.
Process & Capability Development
Consistently apply standard sourcing tools, templates, processes, and ways of working.
Identify opportunities to improve sourcing efficiency, execution discipline, and process effectiveness within the assigned scope.
Contribute to the development and refinement of sourcing playbooks and standard work.
Support adoption and effective use of procurement systems and tools as procurement capabilities mature.
Education & Experience
Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end strategic sourcing and contracting activities, preferably within External Manufacturing or regulated industries.
Strong working knowledge of sourcing and negotiation practices.
Experience delivering savings and sourcing-value initiatives.
Experience leading sourcing initiatives or projects is required.
Familiarity with pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
