ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of solutions for legacy medical-device products within Sustenance Engineering.
Work with cross-functional teams including Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and other global stakeholders across time zones to execute engineering projects.
Contribute to value-improvement initiatives and design-optimization activities for existing products.
Implement engineering drawing and 3D model changes using CAD systems.
Coordinate with internal and external manufacturing partners to determine practical implementation of proposed product changes.
Make engineering decisions and document part-marking exemptions where applicable.
Apply established change-management systems and processes to control product changes.
Maintain accurate project status information in the project database.
Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) through evaluation, documentation, coordination, and implementation.
Communicate effectively across functions, geographical locations, time zones, and cultures.
Follow company procedures and work instructions while producing lean, robust, accurate, and meaningful project documentation.
Provide technical and operational input to help the team execute large project scopes efficiently.
Technical & Domain Expertise
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering domain.
Requires 4-6 years of relevant professional work experience; therefore, this is not a fresher-level position.
Prior experience in medical devices, specifically medical-device engineering and UDI part-marking projects.
Hands-on experience with Creo, SolidWorks, and Windchill.
Understanding of engineering change-management processes.
Experience applying CAD-based drawing and model modifications.
Ability to work with manufacturing teams and evaluate implementation of engineering changes.
Preferred Technical Skills
Familiarity with Teamcenter.
Familiarity with UG NX.
Basic knowledge of Power BI.
Cross-Functional & Business Impact
The role supports the lifecycle management and continued improvement of legacy medical-device products.
Engineering changes must be coordinated with Quality, Regulatory, Operations, manufacturing partners, and other stakeholders to ensure controlled implementation.
Sustenance Engineering activities contribute to product reliability, value improvement, manufacturability, documentation quality, and continued compliance.
The position requires effective coordination across different functions and global locations and the ability to manage engineering changes within established systems and procedures.
Work Arrangement & Travel
Location: Bengaluru, India.
Work flexibility: Hybrid.
Employment type: Full time.
Travel requirement: approximately 10%.
