ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Develop a deep understanding of assays performed within the Specialty Genomics group.
Perform routine quality control and required downstream analyses according to established work instructions for production analyses.
Communicate progress, results, concerns, and troubleshooting outcomes to laboratory staff, project managers, and clients.
Work efficiently in an environment with dynamic timelines and changing priorities.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with members of the bioinformatics team.
Support validation projects through analytical and documentation activities.
Perform additional duties assigned by management according to business needs.
NGS & Bioinformatics Responsibilities
Perform NGS data analysis, including sequence quality assessment, mapping, variant analysis, and interpretation of genomic data.
Use bioinformatics tools, databases, and analytical platforms for genomic and molecular data analysis.
Support gene-expression analysis, phylogenetic studies, sequence annotation, and molecular characterization.
Work with software and analytical platforms including RStudio, SnapGene, PyMOL, GraphPad Prism, and other genomics-analysis tools.
Assist with primer design, genomic-data visualization, and scientific data reporting.
Generate reports and presentations supporting research, operational activities, and client deliverables.
Support precision medicine, genomics, and translational research initiatives.
Collaborate with scientists, bioinformaticians, project managers, and laboratory teams to achieve project objectives.
Conduct literature reviews and support study design, protocol development, and data interpretation.
Contribute to process improvements, innovation initiatives, and implementation of new technologies.
Work Schedule
Full-time position with a 40-hour work week.
Monday through Friday on a rotational shift schedule.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
Preferred relevant experience is 4-5 years in bioinformatics, genomics, NGS data analysis, molecular biology, or translational research.
Preferred hands-on experience or working knowledge of NGS workflows, genomic data analysis, sequence quality control, and mapping techniques.
Collaboration & Quality
Maintain effective communication across laboratory, bioinformatics, project management, and client-facing teams.
Follow established work instructions and quality-control processes for production analyses.
Support validation and documentation activities and contribute to continuous improvement and technology implementation.
