ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Overview

Labcorp is seeking a Sample Handling Assistant I to join its laboratory operations team at Yeshwantpur in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The role is responsible for supporting sample-handling and requisition-processing activities, with a primary focus on accurate data entry, accessioning and timely processing of requisition batches received from regional LPS teams. The position contributes to efficient laboratory operations by ensuring patient demographic and administrative information is accurately entered, documented and processed within defined turnaround times.

Work Schedule

Full-time position.
Rotating shift schedule.
May require on-call and after-hours duties based on operational requirements.

Core Responsibilities

Perform data-entry and requisition-processing activities for batches received from various regional LPS teams.
Complete the main functions of the department as required.
Perform accessioning activities involving first and second entry of patient demographic information.
Enter administrative information and responses displayed on patient requisitions accurately and within required timelines.
Process assigned batches according to urgency and defined turnaround-time requirements.
Prioritize work based on operational urgency and departmental processing standards.
Perform accessioning and data-entry processes under the supervision of a trainer during the training period.
Progress toward independently performing the accessioning process after successful completion of required training.

Sample Processing & Operational Standards

Ensure all received batches are processed in a timely manner.
Follow defined departmental workflows and turnaround-time expectations.
Maintain accuracy while processing patient demographic and administrative information.
Support continuity of laboratory operations through reliable and timely completion of assigned batches.
Perform on-call and after-hours responsibilities when required by the business.
Follow applicable departmental and interdepartmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Documentation, Audit & Compliance

Generate and maintain an appropriate audit trail for all assigned activities.
Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and retained for future reference.
Read and remain current on all relevant SOPs in a timely manner.
Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Perform departmental and interdepartmental SOPs exactly as written.
Follow the company's Home Office Policy where applicable.
Complete all required training activities.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date training file.
Support a compliant and well-documented working environment.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Science is the minimum required qualification.

Six months of work experience in the clinical research industry is preferred.
Master's Degree in Science is preferred.
