ROLE OVERVIEW
Pfizer’s Vizag manufacturing site plays a critical role in producing essential medicines for global markets, and this Associate Manager – Automation position sits at the heart of its digital manufacturing strategy. You will own Emerson DeltaV DCS configuration, instrumentation reliability, and lifecycle support, ensuring that production lines operate safely, compliantly, and without interruption. As Pfizer continues to invest in smart factories, automation engineers who can bridge control systems, field instrumentation, and GMP requirements are increasingly valuable. This role offers exposure to large-scale pharma operations, validation, cybersecurity, and continuous improvement. ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- •Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Emerson DeltaV DCS, including control modules, equipment modules, phases, and batch logic for pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
- •Design and maintain DeltaV operator graphics, alarms, trends, and reports to ensure clear, real-time visibility of critical process parameters.
- •Support DCS upgrades, migrations, patch management, backups, restoration, and disaster recovery activities while maintaining lifecycle compliance.
- •Monitor and maintain field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical instruments, and control valves, resolving issues affecting plant operations.
- •Review and update instrument datasheets, loop drawings, P&IDs, and instrument index documents; support installation, testing, and commissioning of new instrumentation.
- •Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and plant shutdown activities, and integrate DeltaV with PLCs, SCADA, historians, and third-party systems.
- •Optimize control strategies and instrumentation reliability to improve process performance, quality, and productivity while ensuring compliance with GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and instrumentation, preferably within pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing.
- Proven expertise configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Emerson DeltaV DCS, including batch and control logic.
- Strong understanding of field instrumentation, control valves, and industrial communication protocols such as HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and Modbus.
- Experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and plant shutdown activities in a GMP environment.
- Knowledge of validation master plans, lifecycle documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements for automation systems.
- Ability to work on-site at the Vizag manufacturing facility and collaborate with maintenance, operations, and quality teams.
