ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
Provide basic and some comprehensive data management expertise to the Clinical Data Management (CDM) team.
Support delivery of efficient, high-quality data management products that meet customer requirements.
Serve as a Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) for one protocol with fewer than 5 operations staff, excluding Data Entry (DE), or for 15+ easy-to-moderately complex central laboratory studies.
Alternatively, take a leadership role in a defined data management activity, such as coding, testing, or database design for technologies that do not require extensive programming expertise, with appropriate guidance.
Provide backup support to a Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) or Data Team Lead (DTL) when required.
Conduct clinical data review activities.
Write and resolve data clarifications.
Lead database audit teams when assigned.
Develop and test databases and edit specifications.
Perform programming testing activities.
Perform clinical data coding.
Clinical Data Management & Operational Standards
Work within the Clinical Data Management function and contribute to delivery of quality clinical data management outputs.
Understand and comply with core operating procedures and working instructions.
Meet assigned objectives and deliverables.
Maintain effective communication and working relationships with CDM team members, managers, coworkers, and clients.
Exercise strong attention to detail when reviewing, managing, testing, coding, and resolving clinical data issues.
Technical & Domain Expertise
Bachelor's degree in clinical, biological, mathematical sciences, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Exposure to medical terminology is required.
Ability to support clinical data review, data clarification, database development/testing, edit specification activities, programming testing, clinical data coding, and database audit activities.
Computer proficiency is required.
Leadership & Collaboration
May undertake team leadership activities under the supervision of a Data Operations Coordinator, Data Team Lead, or Functional Manager.
May coordinate operational activities for assigned protocols or central laboratory studies.
May lead specific data management tasks such as coding, testing, or database design with guidance.
May lead database audit teams.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, clients, and the broader CDM team.
