ROLE OVERVIEW
AstraZeneca seeks an Associate Director, Analytical Technology in Chennai to lead adoption of analytical methods, process analytical technology and AI-assisted tools for biologics and ADC manufacturing. The role covers technology transfer, control strategy, lifecycle management and cross-functional change leadership.
ROLE DEFINITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- •Evaluate and introduce next-generation analytical technologies, rapid methods and new potency approaches to simplify control strategies while maintaining product quality and patient safety.
- •Assess emerging methods for technology transfer, commercialization, lifecycle management, comparability assessments and post-approval changes to reduce timelines and variability.
- •Identify and implement at-line, online, inline and rapid analytical technologies for process analytical technology, improving process understanding and control, and evaluate Real-Time Release Testing where justified.
- •Build and deploy AI-assisted tools for knowledge search, technical writing, risk evaluation and decision support, working with Digital teams to create scalable capabilities.
- •Lead simplification and standardization efforts that reduce complexity, speed technology transfer and define metrics showing value from innovation, process analytical technology and AI solutions.
- •Provide technical leadership for analytical readiness and risk assessments, comparability strategies, control strategy optimization and long-term portfolio capability planning.
- •Benchmark industry and regulatory practices, prepare business cases for innovation, and drive adoption through cross-functional partnerships across Product Stewardship, Manufacturing Sciences, Technical Transfer, Operations and Development.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree (PhD, MS or equivalent) in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific subject.
- Significant experience supporting biologics, proteins, vaccines or ADC products.
- Deep understanding of analytical lifecycle management, technology transfer, validation, control strategies and commercial manufacturing support.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive organizational change.
- Experience supporting commercialization and lifecycle management activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- •Experience with Process Analytical Technology (PAT).
- •Experience evaluating and implementing innovative analytical technologies.
- •Understanding of Real-Time Release Testing (RTRT) and advanced control strategies.
- •Experience using AI-enabled solutions in scientific or technical environments.
- •Knowledge of emerging analytical and biopharmaceutical industry trends.
